Lesson 7 - Sin and Satan

Sin and Satan

Boys and girls, do you remember reading our past two lessons, about creation? Can you remember how God created the world? You would remember reading that the planet earth, is very precious to God. This is because it was created perfectly and purposefully for man to live. It is also the only planet we read about in the bible, in which God has revealed Himself to.

In the book of Genesis in our bible, we read that God created the first man and woman, Adam and Eve in this beautiful place of paradise called the garden of Eden. Adam and Eve lived in a sinless, perfect world where there was no death, no pain, no thorns, no sweat and no sin. God then gave Adam a command that he may eat the fruit of every tree in the garden except one. He could not eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. For God said, “In the day you eat of it, you will surely die”.

Then Satan, appeared in the form of a serpent and deceived the woman saying, “You shall not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes shall be opened.” Eve saw that there was nothing wrong with the tree and it was pleasant to the eyes, so she ate the fruit. She gave it to her husband, Adam and he ate it also. What do you think happened? Do you think Adam and Eve obeyed God or Satan? Adam and Eve disobeyed God and sin entered into the world. From that day forward, every boy and girl born into this world, were born sinners without exception. That includes both you and me. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” God is holy and he cannot tolerate sin. So soon after Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden, God drove them out of the garden. They had fallen from God’s standards and were no longer able to dwell with Him in the garden.

Romans 5:12 says, “Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” Man can’t live forever because of their sin. The payment of sin is death and because we are all born sinners, we will all die one day. However man is not only punished for their sin physically but also spiritually. If we die in our sins, we will forever live in separation from God and because God resides in Heaven, we can only be in one other place and that is Hell. Hell is real and the bible describes it as a terrible place of suffering. But God could not see man suffer without a way of escape and so he provided a solution through His only begotten Son the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus was born into this world to take our punishment and be crucified on the cross at Calvary for us. So by simple trust in the Lord Jesus Christ that He died on the cross for YOU (because you’re a sinner and deserve death) accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour, you will have your sins forgiven and eternal life in Heaven. For it goes on to say in Romans 5:19, “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” The blood of the Lord Jesus is enough to cover you sins and make you fit to be in the presence of God. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31)
